Embracer has announced that it will retain Metro developer 4A Games and Zen Studios after the sale of Saber
Embracer Group has announced its decision to retain Metro's developer, 4A Games, and the creator of Pinball FX, Zen Studios, despite the ongoing sale of Saber Interactive.
Initially part of Embracer, Saber Interactive was sold to Beacon Interactive—a venture initiated by Saber's co-founder Matthew Karch—for $247 million in March.
In their sale announcement, both companies specified which of Saber's subsidiaries would remain with Embracer, confirming that Zen Studios and 4A Games would not be included in the transfer.
Beacon had an option to purchase these two studios from Embracer, which has since been nullified, as per a recent statement by Embracer.
Furthermore, Embracer disclosed an early receipt of $168.4 million for Saber's assets, with future payments totaling $28.1 million scheduled for 2024 and 2025.
The Embracer Group is moving towards a restructure into three separate publicly-traded entities: Asmodee, Coffee Stain & Friends, and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends. The names of the latter two are expected to change shortly.
4A Games will remain under Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends, which is dedicated to AAA gaming projects. The precise future of Zen Studios is uncertain, although it's anticipated to align with Coffee Stain & Friends due to its indie game focus.
