The film adaptation of "Borderlands" has generated just $31 million at the global box office
On leaving theaters on September 5, the Borderlands movie achieved $31 million in box office revenue.
Data from The Numbers indicates the film collected $15.4 million within the United States and slightly over $15.5 million overseas after its month-long theatrical run.
The movie's release weekend, beginning on August 6, brought in $16 million globally, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz. The film had a production cost of $155 million, alongside marketing and distribution expenses of $30 million.
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, stated that the film's performance would not influence the publisher or the broader Borderlands franchise financially.
Critical reception was unfavorable, with Borderlands receiving a 10% "rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 26% on Metacritic at the time of reporting.
