Mother Games, a newly established gaming studio, successfully secured $5 million in a pre-seed funding round
The newly formed company, Mother Games, has emerged with a substantial financial backing of $5 million in pre-seed funding. This investment round saw contributions from notable backers such as BoxGroup, Shine, and Lerer Hippeau Ventures. The capital raised will be directed towards the development of the studio's first offering, Le Zoo, along with future endeavors.
Headquartered in New York, Mother Games introduces itself as a developer focused on crafting "experiences meant to awaken players to their mental programming and broaden their inner worlds through gameplay." The studio is the brainchild of Kelsey Falter and Raissa Chagas, who, along with a team of alumni from renowned gaming firms like Rockstar and Ubisoft, established the company in August 2023.
The inaugural game, Le Zoo, is envisioned as a dynamic "platform" within a 3D open world, where participants navigate an extraordinary multi-level theme park. Set for future mobile release, the game seeks to break away from "traditional mobile games that rely on the dopamine system to hook users," as highlighted in the announcement. Instead, it aims to harness the "serotonin cycle to elevate perception and enhance awareness."
Commenting on the initiative, CEO Kelsey Falter stated, "Launching Mother and revealing Le Zoo provides a tool for individuals to free themselves from mental constraints through gameplay. Life can be like a game, often governed by unchosen rules. We developed Le Zoo to help players rediscover their true selves, emphasizing fun over arduous self-improvement tasks."
Co-founder Raissa Chagas remarked, "Le Zoo transcends being just a game – it acts as a reflective surface showing our reality in innovative ways. By merging gaming and life, we enable players to view their environment with renewed perspective."
