Netflix games hit 210 million downloads, with GTA: San Andreas and Storyteller among leaders

Netflix has almost 100 games available to its subscribers, from successful indie titles to big franchises. Here are some fresh numbers on the company’s portfolio.

Storyteller

AppMagic data shows that Netflix has generated over 210 million downloads across its entire gaming portfolio, Mobilegamer.biz reported on September 9.

GTA: San Andreas remains the leader in terms of installs, with nearly 25.2 million. Vice City boasts 7.7 million downloads, while GTA III has just over 3.6 million.

Storyteller is the second most-downloaded title among Netflix subscribers, with over 15 million installs (since September 2023). It is a story-building puzzle game created by indie developer Daniel Benmergui and originally published by Annapurna Interactive last year.

Other titles in the top 10 include SpongeBob: Get Cooking (10.7 million), Bloons TD 6 (10 million), THTH: Love is a Game (8.9 million), Football Manager 2024 (8.9 million), Asphalt Extreme (6.2 million), Stranger Things: 1984 (5.9 million), and Farming Simulator 23 (5.8 million).

When looking at other popular games in Netflix’s portfolio, Sonic Prime Dash boasts over 3.2 million downloads, while Twelve Minutes has 3.1 million installs.

Titles with more than 2 million lifetime installs include TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge (2.9 million), Sonic Mania Plus (2.2 million), Into the Dead 2 (2.9 million), Hello Kitty Happiness Parade (2.4 million), and Oxenfree (2 million).

Speaking of Oxenfree, developer Night School Studio recently informed players that the game will be removed from itch.io on October 1. Users will be able to keep playing it only from downloaded files. The studio hasn’t commented on the situation, but it may have something to do with its relationship with Netflix.

Netflix acquired Night School Studio in 2021, shortly after announcing its gaming expansion. It has since snapped up several other studios and partnered with a number of third-party developers and publishers.

This strategy helped the company add many popular games to its library. Here are some of these titles and results of their Netflix versions:

  • Dead Cells — 1.82 million downloads;
  • Terra Nil — 1.47 million downloads;
  • Valiant Hearts: Coming Home — 1.67 million downloads;
  • Reigns: Three Kingdoms — 1.22 million downloads;
  • Into the Breach — 1.19 million million downloads;
  • Hades — 1.17 million million downloads;
