For the second month in a row, Powerful Baseball Pro has maintained its position as the top title in the Japan Monthly Charts

In August, Konami's "Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025" dominated the sales charts in Japan, achieving an additional 76,000 sales across the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 platforms. This title has amassed 336,000 sales over a six-week span since its launch, according to data from Famitsu. By comparison, its predecessor, "eBaseball Powerful Pro Baseball 2022", sold 259,000 units in the same timeframe.

The remainder of the top ten bestsellers consisted mostly of Nintendo's offerings. "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" climbed from fourth place in July to the second position in August, selling another 50,000 copies. Meanwhile, "Nintendo Switch Sports" saw a jump to third place, spurred by the introduction of basketball to the game on July 10.

In other new entries, Bandai Namco's game "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ISEKAI Chronicles" launched at number eight on the Switch, with sales of 23,000 copies. Its PlayStation 5 counterpart secured third place among new games, reaching the 36th spot overall with 6,000 units sold.

Nintendo led the publishers with a 40.9% share of the market, translating to revenue of ¥2.3 billion. Konami retained second place, capturing 14% of the market, buoyed by the success of "Powerful Pro Baseball." The Switch also was the best-selling platform for the month, taking an 88.1% market share with 883,789 boxed games sold. Regarding hardware, the Switch was the leader again, selling 228,000 units across all models, while the PlayStation 5 saw sales of 104,000 units between its two versions.
