Reports indicate that Rocksteady Studios has experienced layoffs as a result of the underperformance of "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League," which was released earlier this year.

As reported by Eurogamer, numerous divisions within the company have undergone cuts, with the quality assurance team being significantly affected.

Sources revealed that the number of employees in this team has been reduced from 33 to 15. Concerns have been raised that this reduction might impact the quality of Rocksteady's products.

The dismissals cover a range of experience levels, affecting both junior members and more established employees with over five years at the company.

The layoffs are connected to the disappointing sales of the "Suicide Squad" game, which debuted in February to a mix of negative feedback and criticism regarding its live-service model.

GamesIndustry.biz has sought comments from Rocksteady and Warner Bros regarding the situation.

After the game’s launch, Warner Bros recognized that "Suicide Squad" did not meet expectations, particularly against the backdrop of the successful "Hogwarts Legacy."

The Studio's performance failed during Q1 2024, resulting in a $200 million loss, with "Suicide Squad" identified as a significant factor. Revenue from games dropped by 41% in the next quarter, affected partly by the contrast with "Hogwarts Legacy."

A detailed report in June pointed to development challenges including frequent changes in the game's direction, leadership perfectionism, and Rocksteady's limited expertise in multiplayer and live-service games as reasons for the game's issues.
