Demand for retro games in Russia has sharply increased

Russian gamers have increasingly been buying retro games on "Avito," according to a report by the newspaper "Kommersant," citing data from the trading platform. Compared to the first half of 2022, sales of old games for consoles doubled by the end of January-June 2024, while sales of old PC games grew sixfold.

The total number of retro games and the total amount spent by Avito users over the half-year period were not disclosed.

In the first half of 2024, the average price for console retro games on the platform was 1,400 rubles. Over two years, this price increased by 3%. Nevertheless, at the beginning of the previous year, it was slightly higher at 1,500 rubles.

Conversely, retro games for PC have become cheaper over the past two years. In the first half of 2024, their average price on "Avito" was 800 rubles—marking a 26% decrease compared to 2022.

Previously, the retail network "M.Video-Eldorado" announced that in the first six months of 2024, Russians purchased 414,000 retro consoles.
