Argonaut Games has been resurrected — the studio that developed Croc: Legend of the Gobbos and Starglider

The British game company Argonaut Games announced its revival 20 years after shutting down.

The resurrected studio has already announced its first project, a remaster of the 1997 3D platformer Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, featuring the adventures of a small crocodile. The updated edition will include a virtual museum called Crocipedia, where gamers can explore concept art, design documents, test animations, developer interviews, and much more. The remaster is set to release by the end of 2024 on PC and "all current consoles."

Later, Argonaut Games plans to re-release some of their other classic hits. Additionally, they will work on new games for modern and retro platforms, though they are not ready to announce them yet.

The original Argonaut Games was founded in 1982 by developer Jez San. Besides Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, the studio contributed to over 30 games. For instance, they developed Alien Resurrection, SWAT: Global Strike Team, and the Starglider series, and were involved in the development of Star Fox and the first two Harry Potter games for Electronic Arts. In 2004, Argonaut Games went bankrupt, and many of its employees joined Rocksteady Studios.
