About the Team
The KATANA8 team was formed in 2020 and officially registered in Russia in 2021. That year, we secured investments to develop an MVP of the mobile version of the game, with investors including Boris Gertsovsky and Pavel and Stepan Dmitriyev.
Our team consists of 20 members, including the founder and co-founders (CTO and art director). Among them are specialists who participated in developing projects like Fortnite, Hawked, Insomnia, Encased, World of Tanks, Baldur’s Gate 3, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, and Corruption 2029.
If necessary, an additional 20 specialists are ready to join the project as development progresses.
The team is currently based outside Russia and is prepared to start creating the game after securing funding and registering a new legal entity.
About the Project
The project originally started as an extraction shooter in a stylized setting for mobile devices. During development, we decided to transition it to PC. We plan to reformat and refine all existing content (maps, characters, assets, lighting) for this platform. The project is being developed on Unreal Engine 5.
The product roadmap is planned for 24 months of work and funding amounting to $1.4 million.
About the Gameplay/Mechanics of the Project
Players, in teams of three or solo, place a bet for the match with virtual game currency. The total pot goes to the player who captures the grand prize.
On the map, players complete missions, rob safes, engage in fights with each other and with smart, aggressive bots, as well as challenge the Big Boss, who is controlled by a real player.
The grand prize can only be obtained by defeating the Big Boss. The player controlling the Big Boss aims to prevent teams from taking the grand prize. If successful, they keep the prize themselves.
The game features expansive maps with diverse, recognizable environments inspired by real locations.
Presentation and financial model are available upon request.
