Gamescom 2024 attracted 335,000 visitors

Last week, Gamescom 2024 set new records with 335,000 visitors from over 120 nations attending. This marks a 4.6% rise compared to the 320,000 attendees at the previous year's event held at Cologne's Koelnmesse.

The event featured 1,463 exhibitors from 64 nations, with 71% being international participants. The number of trade visitors exceeded 32,000, with notable increases in attendees from North America and Japan.

Online participation broke previous records with more than 310 million views recorded by Saturday evening. Opening Night Live attracted 40 million viewers, doubling the audience from the previous year and surpassing expectations.

Gerald Böse, president and CEO of Koelnmesse, commented, “Gamescom has confirmed its unparalleled global impact and importance as the foremost event for the gaming sector.”

He continued, "With record-breaking digital interaction and an increase in physical attendance, Gamescom, Koelnmesse, and the Game Association connect gaming enthusiasts globally, driving advancements and alliances in a manner unmatched by other events."

Felix Falk, managing director of the German Game Association, remarked, "Gamescom 2024 was a tremendous triumph. The increase in global participation across various fields cements Gamescom's status as a leading global event for the foreseeable future."

He further highlighted, "This week has highlighted the substantial societal, cultural, and technological contributions of gaming, prompting nations to compete for leadership in the gaming industry."

Meanwhile, Devcom 2024 also saw its largest turnout to date, with attendance rising by 45% from the previous year, amassing over 5,000 participants at the new Koelnmesse Confex conference center.

The next Gamescom is set for August 20 to August 24, 2025.
