The announcements at Gamescom Opening Night Live concluded with highlights from Borderlands 4 and Mafia: The Old Country

Gamescom's Opening Night Live event took center stage with a diversified lineup of game announcements, unveiling release dates and gameplay for anticipated titles.

The presentation, hosted by Geoff Keighley, took place in Cologne at Koelnmesse and was prominently led by Xbox and Take-Two Interactive. Here are some key announcements from the two-hour event:

  • Borderlands 4 was officially unveiled with a teaser trailer. Take-Two and Gearbox aim for a 2025 release.
  • The showcase concluded with a teaser for Mafia: The Old Country from Hangar 13, exploring the origins of the renowned crime series.
  • Civilization 7, developed by Take-Two and Firaxis, will launch on February 11, 2025, across PCs, Macs, Linux, and consoles.
  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released by Xbox on December 9. The game will also be available on PlayStation 5 in Spring 2025.
  • Starfield's expansion, Shattered Space, is set to go live on September 30.
  • Peter Molyneux introduced Masters of Albion, a fantasy game inspired by his earlier works like Dungeon Keeper and Fable. More details can be found in an interview with Molyneux.
  • The new chapter in Techland's zombie series, Dying Light: The Beast, was announced. This title began as DLC for Dying Light 2, which came out in 2022.

  • Coffee Stain announced a remaster of Goat Simulator, incorporating all previous DLCs.
  • Bandai Namco plans to release Unknown 9: Awakening on October 18, as part of its new transmedia franchise.
  • Following a delay to prevent overlap with Life Is Strange, Don't Nod stated Lost Records: Bloom & Rage will launch in two installments next year, on February 18 and March 18.
  • Hoyoverse's Genshin Impact is slated for an Xbox release on November 20, four years after its initial debut.
  • Marvel Rivals, a team-based shooter from NetEase, will be available starting December 6.
