Gamescom has decided to eliminate the Best Nintendo Game Award this year, citing an insufficient number of submissions.
This year's Gamescom will not feature an award for Best Nintendo Game, as there were insufficient nominees.
The event's award committee reported receiving "too few submissions" for this category, leading to its cancellation.
Since the inception of platform-specific categories at Gamescom in 2011, this marks the first instance without a Best Nintendo Switch game award.
Gamescom explained to TheGamer that the decision to remove the category was due to a lack of entries.
In the previous year, titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom won multiple awards, including categories for best audio, gameplay, "most epic" game, and best Nintendo game.
