SteamOS will soon be available on the ROG Ally and various other handheld gaming devices
Valve has announced that support for SteamOS will be extended to the Asus ROG Ally, along with other third-party handheld gaming devices.
This information was shared by Valve designer Lawrence Yang, following the notice of an update in the most recent SteamOS patch notes, as detailed by The Verge.
Yang explained, "The note about ROG Ally keys is related to third-party device support for SteamOS. The team is continuing to work on adding support for additional handhelds on SteamOS."
While acknowledging progress, he noted that SteamOS is not yet ready for immediate use on devices like the ROG Ally.
He also mentioned advancements regarding dual-boot support, with drivers for Windows being prepared for the upcoming Steam Deck OLED.
Yang concluded, "There's no update on the timing for dual boot support – it's still a priority, but we haven't been able to get there just yet."
