Payload Studios has reduced its workforce by 25%
Payload Studios, the company behind the game TerraTech, has announced job cuts impacting a quarter of its employees.
Russ Clarke, who serves as the CEO and founder, disclosed the development on LinkedIn, pointing to the "struggles of affecting the wider industry" as the reason for the layoffs.
Clarke expressed regret over the situation, stating, "We tried very hard to avoid this, and I won't pretend that we got everything right over the last few years – but ultimately the games market has been very tough in recent times, and shows little sign of getting easier." He added that small independent studios must excel every time, which is not an easy feat.
The CEO assured that both TerraTech and TerraTech Worlds will still receive updates and development without any disruptions. He thanked the community for their ongoing support and extended well wishes to the departing colleagues who have been part of their remarkable journey.
