The mobile advertising market in the US is over $7 billion
The mobile advertising turnover in the US is projected to reach $7.29 billion by the end of 2013. More than half of this amount will be attributed to Google, reports Emarketer.
Thanks to the entry of Facebook and Twitter into the mobile advertising market, its American segment grew by 178% last year, reaching $4.11 billion. This year, analysts believe it will grow by another 77.3% to a total of $7.29 billion.
This is five times more than what American companies spent on mobile advertising in 2011. In the near future, this figure will only continue to rise. According to Emarketer, by 2017 the mobile advertising market turnover will increase to an astounding $27.13 billion. This is slightly less than 45% of all digital advertising spending and 13.8% of the total promotional spending in the US at that time.
In 2013, Google will earn the most from advertising, with $3.9 billion. In second place with $964 million is Facebook. The bronze goes to the internet radio service Pandora, which might earn around $372 million by the end of the year. Twitter ranks only fourth.
In 2012, Facebook accounted for only 9.5% of the entire market, but this year, thanks to "display impressions," its share will grow to 13.2%. For every $10 spent on mobile displays in the US, $3 go to Zuckerberg's pocket.
When it comes to search mobile advertising, Google leads the pack. The search corporation receives 93.3% of all revenues from this type of advertising.
