Jelly Bean is on a quarter of Android devices

Google has published its regular report on the fragmentation of its OS. According to this data, 25% of all Android devices are running on Jelly Bean.

However, Gingerbread is still the leader: Android 2.3 is on 39.8% of gadgets. But each month, the share of "Gingerbread" is decreasing. Since February, this version of the platform has lost 1.4%. Back in January, it accounted for 47.4% of devices. As for Ice Cream Sandwich, there's no change. This version continues to account for 29%.

Google also provided information about the screen types in Google devices. Below are the specifications.

Resolutions

  • xlarge – minimum resolution of 960 x 720
  • large — minimum resolution of 640 x 480
  • normal — minimum resolution of 470 x 320
  • small — minimum resolution of 426 x 320

Pixel Density

  • ldpi — around 120dpi
  • mdpi — around 160dpi
  • hdpi — around 240dpi
  • xhdpi — around 320dpi
  • tvdpi — around 213 dpi

Regarding xxhdpi, there is no information yet on http://developer.android.com about the exact dpi. It likely refers to a pixel density of 400 dpi or higher on devices with Full HD resolution.
