Kiip to invest $100,000 in independent developers
Kiip, a mobile network that allows companies to reward users for virtual achievements with real prizes, has launched a fund for independent developers. The size of the fund is $100,000.
To start, let's talk about what Kiip itself does, specifically its brainchild—the eponymous service.
The creators of Kiip love competition themselves
Its essence is as follows: when a player completes a level or achieves a record result, and at that moment, when they are in a good mood, literally jumping for joy, an advertisement is shown to them. Under this scenario, the likelihood of clicking on the ad is significantly higher than on an ordinary banner. Moreover, advertisers can incentivize a click by gifting the user an item such as a chocolate bar, a bottle of soda, etc.
This approach allowed Kiip to attract $15.4 million in investments back in 2010. Since then, Kiip has regularly been listed as one of the most successful and rapidly growing mobile companies.
In 2012, deciding not to limit itself to advertising activities, the service ventured into investment, or more precisely, organized a competition among independent developers with a prize fund of $100,000.
A year later, the company decided to repeat the experience, launching the Kiip Build Fund once again.
The contest is open to all independent developers of mobile apps and games. Ten winners will each receive $10,000 in cash and $5,000 in development tools from Kiip's partners (including Amazon, Urban Airship, Parse, Crittercism, and Localytics).
