The creators of XCOM: Enemy Unknown are making an iOS game
Firaxis Games, the studio responsible for the latest installment of XCOM and the Civilization strategy series, announced a new project for iOS today, March 21 — Haunted Hollow.
Our colleagues at the American portal Polygon have already played a demo version of the game. According to them, it's a strategic free-to-play game where players take on the role of a “dark overlord,” commanding cartoon ghosts, vampires, and werewolves.
The gameplay is roughly as follows:
There is a town and two "haunted mansions." One is controlled by the player, and the other by their opponent. The goal for each is to capture the town.
The game is turn-based. Each turn, the player can build rooms in their mansion. New rooms provide access to new monsters.
In the next turn, the player can send monsters into the town. On the third step, the player's minions scare the residents, thereby taking control of various houses.
They can also attack enemy zombies and vampires, reclaiming territory. The struggle between the forces of darkness is complicated by townspeople, who attack captured buildings and the player's monsters.
Haunted Hollow will be released this spring. The game's monetization will be based on purchasing new monsters.
