Virtual reality studio Archiact is shutting its doors
The virtual reality firm Archiact has announced its impending shutdown.
According to a post on LinkedIn, the company notified its employees on August 12 that operations will cease in two weeks.
Founded in 2013, Archiact was known as a trailblazer in virtual reality, focusing on immersive game development. Its portfolio includes titles like Doom 3: VR Edition, Journey to Foundation, Marvel Dimension of Heroes, and Evasion.
Throughout its 11-year history, Archiact released 35 games while collaborating with leading industry firms, significantly advancing virtual and mixed reality technologies.
The studio expressed gratitude, highlighting the role it played in nurturing countless skilled developers who believed in the future of immersive gaming.
"We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this incredible journey," the studio stated, reflecting on its work on platforms like PS VR2, Meta Quest, and Pico.
The closure comes on the heels of layoffs earlier this year. Reports from January mention that Archiact employed between 51 and 200 individuals at that time, according to its LinkedIn page.
