Rachael Lillis, known widely for her iconic voice roles as Jessie, Misty, and Jigglypuff in the Pokémon franchise, has passed away at the age of 55.

The announcement was made by Lillis' sister, Laurie Orr, who updated a GoFundMe campaign originally created to assist with Rachael's medical expenses and funeral costs. Orr indicated that any additional contributions will be directed towards "causes in her name – specifically toward efforts to combat cancer."

Lillis' death was referenced by her colleague, Veronica Taylor, who is also known for voicing Ash in the series. She remembered Lillis as "an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice whether speaking or singing."

Furthermore, Taylor noted, "She will be forever remembered for the many animated roles she played, with her iconic performances as Pokémon Misty and Jessie being the most beloved."

Tara Sands, who voiced Bulbasaur in the original dub, added that Rachael was deeply appreciative of the support from fans, stating, "A wonderful person gone way too soon."

Beyond Pokémon, Lillis lent her voice to video game titles such as Lego Jurassic World and Ape Escape 2, showcasing her versatility as a voice actress.

Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated Lillis's age as 46; this has now been updated.
