Roblox has been prohibited in Türkiye over issues related to child safety
The Turkish government announced a ban on Roblox yesterday.
The decision was declared by Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç on social media, mentioning the prohibition was enacted due to content that might exploit children, according to Eurogamer.
Roblox responded by affirming respect for the regulations in countries where it operates and expressed its wish to collaborate with Turkish officials to reinstate the platform.
A Bloomberg investigation last month revealed that Roblox reported over 13,000 cases to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in 2023. Additionally, it noted that 24 individuals in the United States were arrested for predatory behavior and abuse.
The company critiqued the report, arguing that it contained significant errors and did not adequately portray the complexities involved in online child protection.
Earlier in 2023, Roblox faced a lawsuit from several parents, alleging insufficient child safety measures led to financial losses and exposure to mature content for their children.
In a statement to GamesIndustry.biz, Roblox refuted the claims, stating it has implemented numerous safety features for children and developed tools that allow parents to monitor their children's activities.
