MixRift has successfully secured $1.6 million in a pre-seed funding effort.

The funding round was spearheaded by Outsized Ventures and Underline Ventures, with additional backing from SOSV and various angel investors. The funds will facilitate the enhancement and publication of mixed reality gaming projects.

The company was established by CEO Bobby Voicu, previously leading MavenHut, CPO David Pripas, who served as the creative director at Augmented Studios, and CTO Andrei Vaduva, a former lead engineer at Green Horse Games. The trio had prior collaboration at MavenHut Games.

To date, MixRift has launched two games: Fractured, available on Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro, and Hell Horde, exclusive to Meta Quest. Several more titles are planned for release within the current year.

Voicu expressed: "We're at the dawn of exploring the potential of mixed reality for gamers. Recognizing a vast, untapped market, our team is equipped with the expertise to create captivating games that engage this audience. This gives us a distinct advantage to seize the opportunity."

He added: "Our strategy involves swift prototyping of games, releasing them to the market, and quickly garnering real user feedback. We use these insights to refine engaging titles and discontinue those that do not resonate. This investment bolsters our approach and signifies the confidence of seasoned backers in our vision."
