Social First has successfully raised $4.2 million in its latest funding round
Social First has successfully secured $4.2 million in seed funding.
The Finnish studio's fund-raising was spearheaded by Crowberry Capital, with additional contributions from Business Finland and Play Ventures, the latter increasing its pre-seed investment in the company.
This capital injection will be directed towards the development of their forthcoming cross-platform social MMO, which is expected to enter early access later this year.
Established in late 2021, Social First was formed by former Kukouri executives Kim Soares and Mikko Kähärä. The team currently includes 20 seasoned professionals from known companies such as Ubisoft, Rovio, and Paradox Interactive.
"We are hugely impressed by the expertise of the Social First team," remarked Hekla Arnardóttir, founding partner of Crowberry Capital. "Their initial release metrics exhibit remarkable engagement, highlighting their profound insight into social gaming."
"We are eager to support them through their early-stage launch and anticipate that they will make significant waves in the social gaming sector."
Harri Manninen, founding partner of Play Ventures, added: "The Social First team has set very high ambitions for their game, and they have already cultivated a passionate community around their early playtests with outstanding results."
