Creator of Garry's Mod: the situation with the DMCA complaint over Skibidi Toilet has been successfully resolved
The developer Garry Newman, who created the sandbox game Garry’s Mod, informed IGN about the resolution of a DMCA complaint that the game received due to Skibidi Toilet.
Skibidi Toilet
Newman mentioned that the creator of Skibidi Toilet, Alexey Gerasimov (also known as DaFuq!?Boom!), contacted him and helped to resolve the issue. Newman also stated that the DMCA complaint was filed at the end of last year.
It is worth mentioning that Garry’s Mod was accused of illegally using images from Skibidi Toilet. Allegedly, unauthorized games inspired by Skibidi Toilet are created in the sandbox using the same assets, which brings the creators of Garry’s Mod "significant income." The catch is that Skibidi Toilet itself is made using assets from Half-Life, just like Garry’s Mod.
Previously, Gerasimov stated on social media that he did not file a DMCA complaint against Garry’s Mod. The complaint listed Invisible Narratives, a production company interested in adapting Skibidi Toilet, as the sender. However, according to Gerasimov, they also did not send any letters. Who actually accused the game of infringing Skibidi Toilet copyrights remains unclear.
