In South Korea, more than half of gamers play on multiple platforms
Niko Partners analysts have studied the platform preferences of gamers from Japan and South Korea. It was found that a significant portion of them play on more than one platform.

- To start, let's note that in December 2023, there were a total of 96.3 million gamers in Japan and South Korea.
- Currently, 39% of Japanese gamers and 58% of South Korean gamers play on at least two platforms.
- Compared to last year, the share of Japanese mobile gamers who also play on PC or consoles increased by 30 basis points to 70%.
- The share of South Korean PC gamers playing on multiple platforms increased by 5 basis points over the year to 90%.
- More than half of the top 10% most popular games in Japan and South Korea are available on at least two platforms.
- The study also mentions that 31% of Japanese gamers and 40% of South Korean gamers watch gaming streams at least occasionally. The most popular video platform for gaming-related content in Asia is YouTube. Local platforms like SOOP in South Korea and NicoNico in Japan are also very popular.
