Dotplay, a platform focused on web-based mobile distribution, has raised $1 million in a pre-seed round of funding.

The investment, spearheaded by Transcend Fund, will be allocated to enhancing the platform and increasing the number of its developers and engineers.

Founded in March 2024, Dotplay is led by CEO Iskander Pataudi, previously the director of core product at AppLovin's Lion Studios, and CTO Bartosz Alksnin, who was the lead developer at King.

This platform offers developers an alternative to conventional app stores by enabling them to turn their apps into mobile web games that can be played across multiple devices.

"We see the potential for the mobile web to rival app stores in terms of distribution," Pataudi stated. "Monetization and distribution outside of app stores are poised to grow across all media, and we aim to spearhead this shift.

"Our technology converts apps reliant on stores into mobile web games that are instantly accessible on various devices, lowering costs for developers and broadening accessibility for gamers."
