Plaion is set to release Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

Skydance Games and Plaion are set to release Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra next year.

This new game, which was announced earlier in the year at GDC, will feature Captain America and Black Panther during World War II. Skydance New Media, led by Amy Hennig, a former Naughty Dog member and Uncharted director, along with co-president Julian Beak, is behind this project.

Although the platforms haven't been specified yet, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will launch in 2025.

Skydance has a history of handling its own releases via its Skydance Interactive label, with prior titles like The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners in VR. Another upcoming VR action game, Skydance's Behemoth, will also be self-published.

Plaion, under the ownership of Embracer Group, will transition into a new entity provisionally named 'Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends' as Embracer Group reorganizes into three separate public companies.

Haluk Mentes, head of Marvel Games, stated: "Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an exquisite and bold take on some of our most beloved and timeless characters. The world-class development talent of Skydance Games and global publishing capabilities of Plaion are an excellent team-up to ensure we deliver on the massive promise this game has. We’re excited to collaborate and bring Marvel 1943 to players around the world."

Additionally, Hennig's team at Skydance New Media is also engaged in a Star Wars-related project.
