Look North World secures $4.5 million in total funding
Look North World, a developer and publisher, has secured an additional $2.25 million in seed financing, raising their total funds to $4.5 million.
The funding round was spearheaded by London Venture Partners, with contributions from Bandai Namco Entertainment 021 Fund, Overwolf, Crush Ventures (the venture branch of Crush Music), Hasbro, Pix Capital, and Hibbard Road Partners.
The newly secured funds will be utilized for the creation of new game titles, as the studio is currently working on 15 projects, and to explore ways to develop games using user-generated content.
The company has already crafted and released five games on Unreal Engine for Fortnite.
Additionally, Look North World has introduced a creator label aimed at providing creators with artistic and technical support, marketing budgets, and long-term intellectual property ownership.
Creators such as Austin 'TomJank' Rodriguez and Jon 'SightedSloth' Jungemann are among those signed to this program.
"The investment in Look North World reinforces our conviction that user-generated content is crucial to the future of gaming," stated Matt Bilbey from London Venture Partners.
He added, "Alex and his experienced team have been innovators during significant growth periods in the console and mobile markets. Through Look North World, they are continuing to redefine game development and publishing."
Yoyo Yang, principal at Bandai Namco Entertainment o21 Fund, commented: "Look North World is an excellent partner, rooted in game development expertise, with founders who have produced blockbuster games. They are poised to fulfill the evolving demands of the new generation of gamers."
Look North World was founded last year by veterans from EA, Bungie, and Kongregate, including Alex Seropian, Jay Pecho, Patrick Moran, Kyle Marks, Aaron Marroquin, and Prashant Patil.
