Netflix has appointed Alain Tascan, previously an executive at Epic Games, as its new president of games

Alain Tascan, a former executive at Epic Games, has been named the new president of Netflix Games.

Tascan held the position of executive vice president of game development at Epic Games from November 2018 until July 2024, overseeing the development of prominent titles such as Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys.

Earlier in his career, he established Ubisoft and EA’s Montreal studios and was the founder and CEO of Umi Games.

He succeeds Mike Verdu, who has transitioned to a new role within Netflix Games that focuses on "transformative innovation in game creation and development," according to a report from Variety.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Tascan stated, "I am honored and thrilled to build on the remarkable foundation that the talented games team here has laid, and I firmly believe that Netflix is uniquely positioned to redefine the future of gaming."

Greg Peters, Netflix's co-CEO, commented, "Alain brings over 30 years of experience in global video game development, production, licensing, and building studios. He has a passion for making games and a proven track record of taking bold creative bets. We're excited to have him leading Netflix Games."

Netflix Games has more than 80 titles currently in development and plans to release a new game to its subscribers monthly starting July 2024.

The streaming platform adopted a more strategic approach to its gaming division in March last year, acquiring studios such as Night School and Spry Fox.
