On June 20th, Level Infinite and TiMi Studios, subsidiaries of Tencent, launched the hit MOBA Honor of Kings outside of China. The game quickly gained popularity in new markets.

The developers announced that in its debut month, the global version of Honor of Kings racked up over 50 million downloads. They thanked the community and, as a token of appreciation, added a new free skin to the game.

To recall, the original Honor of Kings was released in China in November 2015. It is currently one of the world's most profitable mobile games. According to data from the analytical service AppMagic, by June 1, 2024, the Chinese version of Honor of Kings had generated over $11.7 billion from IAP, referring to iOS revenue only. With additional revenue from Chinese Android stores, its total income should be even higher. It should be noted that this amount excludes the App Store's commission and taxes paid by Tencent.

Tencent has previously attempted to introduce the western audience to Honor of Kings. In 2017, the company released a version of the game titled Arena of Valor. It seems that it did not perform as well as Tencent had hoped. Nevertheless, in 2023, user spending in Arena of Valor exceeded $1 billion (data from data.ai).
