Dusk, a new social media application, aims to "reimagine social multiplayer gaming for the mobile generation"
An emerging social media app centered on multiplayer gaming has successfully raised $8 million in a new investment round.
Bjarke Felbo and Sanjay Guruprasad, the minds behind the PUGB and Call of Duty Mobile companion app Rune, have developed Dusk, which secured funding predominantly from Makers Fund and byFounders. Additional backing came from Ben Liu of PocketGems, Thomas Hartwig from King, and Adi Rathnam of Kamkord.
Currently in its beta phase, Dusk features 50 games across multiple genres and has facilitated "over 50m minutes" of voice chat among its users.
Felbo and Guruprasad envision the app as a unified platform for game developers to create and promote their games, and for players to enjoy and interact with friends.
"Dusk completely reimagines social multiplayer gaming for the mobile generation," said Sanjay Guruprasad, Dusk CEO and co-founder. He highlighted the difference between existing platforms targeting dedicated PC and console gamers and the casual, mobile-friendly experiences preferred by Gen Z. "This funding demonstrates our investors’ belief in our innovative approach to mobile social multiplayer gaming," he added.
Ryann Lai, general partner at Makers Fund, remarked, "Our investment in Dusk is driven by the belief that the next major social app will revolve around gaming." Lai praised Dusk’s potential to revolutionize social gaming by empowering new creators and enhancing group interactions through its voice-first, lightweight format.
