Rumor: Since 2023, the staff at 343 Industries has been reduced by more than half again

Over the past year and a half, 343 Industries has been actively losing staff, reports insider Bathrobe Spartan, who specializes in the Halo series of games. According to him, the studio currently employs fewer than 280 people—back at the beginning of 2023, there were 450.

Bathrobe Spartan writes that the studio’s management fired over 100 people, while another 50-60 employees left on their own. 343 Industries is now less likely to renew contracts with freelance staff and more often works with outsourcing teams. Notably, of the remaining employees, only 30% are directly involved in game development, with the rest primarily responsible for business and production roles.

Bathrobe Spartan also discovered that 343 Industries has adopted a new method of game production. It now intends to develop concepts and initiate preliminary game development by itself, while outsourcing the remaining work to other studios. This approach was already used for Halo Wars 2. Allegedly, 343 Industries is currently working on two new games, but they are not expected to be released before 2026.
