Techland shifting "majority of positions" to in-office or hybrid arrangement
Techland is implementing a shift in working conditions, with the majority of its workforce now required to either be on-site or follow a hybrid schedule, combining remote and in-person work.
This change was revealed to GamesIndustry.biz after an initial report by Polish gaming website CD Action, which mentioned that anonymous insiders claimed the studio was phasing out the remote work option.
A representative from Techland explained to GamesIndustry.biz that the company aims to "foster a more collaborative work atmosphere."
"Although remote work remains possible, we are transitioning most employees to either on-site or hybrid setups. Those residing close to our offices are expected to work on-site three days a week. Remote staff, especially those abroad, will need to visit the office periodically to build stronger connections."
CD Action's sources indicated that international staff need to be present in the office for eight working days every two months, though Techland did not specifically address this claim.
The report also mentioned that team leaders were given less than a day's notice about the changes and instructed to pass on this information to their teams.
According to sources, the studio facilities are not adequately sized to support the full number of employees, as Techland's workforce nears 500 people. Specifically, the Warsaw office reportedly struggled with insufficient restroom availability even with only 70 staff on-site.
Techland concluded their statement by saying: "We acknowledge this significant change, and employees can still request home office days as needed. This transition has just begun, and we aim to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible, providing individual support."
