Foreign developers are expected to be required to connect to the ERAI information system

The draft law from the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation also discusses strengthening the regulation of the video game market. Among the initiatives is the mandatory cooperation of foreign developers with the Single Regulator of Gambling (ERAI).

According to Interfax, all foreign rights holders operating in the Russian market are expected to connect to the ERAI information system if in-game purchases are available.

The draft law also requires both foreign and domestic gaming companies to use advertising systems from Russian legal entities for advertisements targeting the Russian audience.

Another regulatory initiative is that authorities intend to prohibit gaming services from distributing games in Russia that contain content prohibited by law. Additionally, the ministry proposes that services be required to label games and that the data of Russian users be stored and processed exclusively in Russia. Payments in services are proposed to be conducted only through Russian systems.
