Splash Damage may see potential redundancies affect a limited number of positions
Employees at Splash Damage have been alerted today about potential job cuts at the studio.
The exact number of roles that may be impacted remains unspecified, though the company indicates the layoffs are confined to "a small number of positions," according to a statement given to GamesIndustry.biz.
Initial news of the workforce reduction surfaced when Max Downton, senior global communications manager, disclosed on social media that his job is "at risk of redundancy," and he is now undergoing a consultation period.
In response to inquiries from GamesIndustry.biz, Splash Damage issued the following statement:
"After a recent review of our business structure, we've identified a need to adjust our organization to align with our current and future game projects. Despite exhaustive efforts to prevent this outcome, we regret to announce that a small number of roles within the studio are potentially at risk of being cut.
"These affected roles are mainly within our operations team, and our development teams are largely unaffected. Development continues on all announced and unannounced titles.
"We recognize this is challenging for some and are dedicated to supporting those who are impacted."
Splash Damage is renowned for its role in multiplayer shooters, contributing to the development of several titles in the Gears of War and Halo franchises.
The studio is currently developing the online multiplayer game Transformers: Reactivate and Project Astrid, an open-world survival game in partnership with popular gaming streamers Christopher "Sacriel" Ball and Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek.
