The Loadout, a website operated by Network N Media, has officially ceased operations

UK gaming publication The Loadout has ceased operations.

The shutdown, though not officially acknowledged by its parent company Network N Media, was confirmed by former deputy editor Jamie Hore. In a statement released earlier in the week, Hore disclosed that July 8 marked the final day of activities for the site’s team.

“After almost five years, The Loadout’s journey has sadly drawn to a close. Today was the team’s last day working on the site,” Hore shared on X/Twitter.

In a subsequent blog post, Hore reflected on his tenure, stating, “It’s been nothing but a privilege to have been part of the site since its inception and to still be here on its final day to wave it off.” He added, "While the last few months have been undeniably the most challenging of my four-and-a-half-year stint, I prefer to focus on the countless lessons learned, the talented individuals I worked with, and the many great times rather than the sad moments."

Launched in October 2019, The Loadout was Network N’s second proprietary brand, following PC Games N. Initially dedicated to esports, the site eventually broadened its scope to include console gaming. At its peak, the site employed eight full-time staff members.

Closure of The Loadout directly affects four permanent employees. A number of key team members, including those responsible for guides, were similarly let go at the end of 2023.

Earlier this month, approximately one-third of the workforce at Network N's video game marketing agency, Project N, were also laid off.
