Sporty Group has announced the acquisition of Sociable Soccer
Sporty Group has acquired the arcade-style football game series Sociable Soccer, developed by Tower Studios.
This acquisition represents Sporty Group's initial venture into mobile and video gaming.
The company plans to manage the global release of the game, which acts as a spiritual follow-up to the Sensible Soccer series, created by Tower Studios' CEO and creative director Jon Hare.
Sociable Soccer 24 became available on Steam and Nintendo Switch in late 2023, with subsequent releases on Xbox and PlayStation anticipated later this year.
Following the acquisition, Hare will continue to lead Sociable Soccer's development, leveraging Sporty Group's assets.
Sporty Group, known for its SportyBet brand, the sports app Sporty.com, and SportyTV—which broadcasts premium sports in Nigeria and Ghana—will support the game's expansion.
"Integrating our skilled development team with Sporty enables us to keep focusing on our expertise: creating popular games for a wide range of platforms," commented Hare.
"Having a successful and growing sports entertainment company like Sporty behind us allows us to develop better games and reach a larger audience," he added.
Gregory Parsons, vice president of business development at Sporty Group, remarked, "From our discussions with Jon and his team, it was evident that we share the same goals. We are excited to welcome them to the Sporty family. Our vision for Sociable Soccer is expansive, and this acquisition is merely the starting point."
In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz last October, Hare discussed the Sociable Soccer series and its acquisition of the FIFPRO license, which includes over 10,000 real-world players, with more players to be added.
