At the first-ever Gamescom Latam Awards, Chants of Sennaar claimed the top honor

The inaugural Gamescom Latam Awards have announced their winners, with the top honor, Game of the Year, awarded to Rundisc's renowned title, Chants of Sennaar.

This celebrated French indie game, which focuses on uncovering languages, was among the numerous games available for play at the Sao Paulo Expo during last week's Gamescom Latam event.

A distinguished panel of 49 judges selected the winners from 13 different categories. These awards were revealed at the Gamescom Latam Awards ceremony held on Saturday, June 29.

Among the other notable winners were Momodora: Moonlit Farewell by the Brazilian studio Bombservice, Arranger: A Role-Puzzling Adventure from Furniture & Mattress, and Extremely Powerful Capybaras by Brazil's indie Studio Bravarda.

GamesIndustry.biz attended the Gamescom Latam event, where Gustavo Steinberg, the event's organizer and CEO, highlighted that the show has become the "biggest games event in the Americas."

  • Innovation Award: Cryptmaster (Paul Hart, Lee Williams)
  • Best Pitch from Regional Game Development Associations: Dark Crown (Hyper Drive Game Studio)
