Ubisoft Toronto experiences workforce reductions
Ubisoft Toronto has undergone a restructuring that resulted in laying off 33 employees.
PC Gamer reports that the company stated the "targeted realignment" aims to help them achieve their "ambitious roadmap."
In a statement, Ubisoft mentioned offering severance and career assistance to support the affected workers during this transition.
The ongoing projects at Ubisoft Toronto, such as the remakes of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Splinter Cell, remain unaffected by the layoffs.
Recently, Gameloft's Toronto studio similarly faced job cuts, as highlighted by GamesIndustry.biz, due to prevailing market conditions.
Ubisoft also experienced 45 layoffs earlier this year within its global publishing and Asia-Pacific units during a reorganization.
In 2023, Ubisoft reported a 27% increase in sales, amounting to €2.3 billion ($2.5 billion), fueled by success from Rainbow Siege and Assassin's Creed franchises, according to their fiscal year report.
