The parent company of FromSoftware has fallen victim to hackers
The hacker group BlackSuit announced a breach of the internal network of Kadokawa — the parent company of the developers of Dark Souls and Elden Ring. According to the perpetrators, they accessed 1.5 TB of confidential data.

The hackers claim to have obtained Kadokawa's legal documents, the company’s business plans, financial reports, user and employee information, project data, and much more. The hackers threaten to release this information publicly if Kadokawa does not pay a ransom by July 1, 2024. They stated that Kadokawa already attempted to negotiate a deal but offered an amount "too small for this company."
Kadokawa, in an official statement, acknowledged the breach. They reported that the hackers stole the data back on June 8, and an investigation is currently underway. It is known that the Niconico service was severely affected by the breach, but whether the FromSoftware studio was impacted remains unspecified.
