A former Destiny producer believes live-service games are the best option for both developers and gamers
Joe Tung is a former executive producer of Destiny and Halo and is currently the head of Theorycraft Games. During an interview with PC Gamer, he stated that the live service model of games is "much more beneficial for developers and gamers" than the premium model with price tags of $60 per game.

As Tung explained, live service games allow developers to plan long-term. With this approach, studios can gradually implement all promised features instead of cutting content due to deadline pressures. Additionally, developers of live service games are not pressured to achieve high sales in the first few days after release.
Tung pointed out that many developers of premium games have stories about a "fake" build made specifically for events like E3. At such exhibitions, studios try to showcase all the game's potential features, even if some only exist in this build, as it is almost their only chance to interact with the audience and fully demonstrate the product. However, some of the showcased features ultimately do not make it into the final version of the game due to time constraints. Developers of live service games do not have this problem.
