John Hight departs from Blizzard Entertainment
John Hight has ended his long tenure at Blizzard Entertainment, departing after more than ten years with the company.
Hight, who signed on with Blizzard in 2011, revealed his departure on social media, expressing his enthusiasm for new adventures.
"After 12 extraordinary years at Blizzard, I've chosen to move on and embark on a new journey," Hight announced. "Making this choice was difficult, but it feels like the right time: Warcraft is in phenomenal shape as the universe celebrates its 30th anniversary. I've been deeply privileged to serve all the heroes of Azeroth."
He further added, "While I don't have concrete plans for my next steps yet, I am eager to discover new opportunities and challenges in this industry and to keep creating outstanding games with talented individuals."
Hight began his stint at Blizzard as a senior producer for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. Over time, he rose to the position of executive producer and vice president of the franchise, and later, in November 2021, became general manager.
In addition, he was responsible for overseeing production on Diablo 3 and its Reaper of Souls expansion.
Hight's career started in 1993 as the creative director for internal development at The 3DO Company. He moved to Electronic Arts in 1996, taking roles as executive producer and director of design, and then progressed to Atari in 2002, again as an executive producer.
By 2005, Hight had joined Sony as the director of product development, contributing to God of War 3 and spearheading the launch of the PlayStation Network.
