"It was a difficult decision, but I feel now is the right time: the Warcraft universe is turning 30, and it’s in a great position," Hight wrote on X.

Hight stated that he wants to "start a new quest." He will continue working in gaming, but is not ready to disclose details about his next project yet.

Hight joined Blizzard in November 2011, becoming the executive producer of World of Warcraft. He assumed the role of general manager of the franchise in 2021. During his time at Blizzard, he contributed to numerous expansions for World of Warcraft, including Mists of Pandaria, Legion, and Dragonflight, as well as games like Hearthstone, Diablo IV, Warcraft Rumble, and many others. Before Blizzard, Hight worked at Sony, Atari, and Electronic Arts.
