Intercept Games is expected to undergo job cuts by the close of June

Intercept Games, known for developing Kerbal Space Program, is scheduled to undergo layoffs next month, according to reports from multiple staff members on LinkedIn.

Quinn Duffy, a senior design manager at the company, disclosed that the layoffs will take effect on June 28. Confirmation of this date was also shared by software engineer John Del Valle and principal engineer Mark Jones.

Jones expressed his sentiments in a post, stating, "It has been an absolute pleasure working with this team, and you couldn't ask for a more dedicated group of developers who really embrace the Kerbal spirit. It will be hard to say goodbye to such a unique title and franchise, but all good things must come to an end. This is a tough time for the industry, and unfortunately another great group of developers are going to be out looking for work."

GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to the parent company, Take-Two Interactive, for more details on the situation.

This news follows a Bloomberg report from May that indicated plans to shut down Intercept Games as well as UK-based Roll7. Furthermore, a WARN notice filed in Washington State cited the closure of a Take-Two office on June 28, impacting 70 employees.

In related developments, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick mentioned in an interview with IGN that the company had not closed down either studio.

A Take-Two representative assured GamesIndustry.biz that their Private Division label would continue to provide updates for Kerbal Space Program 2.
