Twitch has decided to disband its Safety Advisory Council, according to a recent report
Members of Twitch's Safety Advisory Council have reportedly been dismissed, according to sources who spoke with CNBC. The internal email suggests that these members will not receive payment for the latter half of the year.
A representative for Twitch informed CNBC that the council will persist but will now largely consist of Twitch ambassadors. These ambassadors will bring diverse viewpoints to the table.
GamesIndustry.biz has requested additional information from Twitch regarding these changes.
The Safety Advisory Council, established in 2020, initially included nine specialists in online safety and partners of Twitch. The council's purpose was to advise on policies, develop new products, and safeguard marginalized communities.
