Hypersonic Laboratories secures $7 million in funding for its modification platform, Helix
Hypersonic Laboratories has secured $7 million in a series A funding round spearheaded by Play Ventures.
Additional funding was provided by AppWorks, WTIC, KB Investment, and Alex Ekvall. The investment will be allocated to further the development of Helix.
Helix is a sandbox platform designed to support the creation of role-playing mods and servers. It is set to enter a closed alpha phase later this year.
Originally introduced as a web3 platform with an NFT marketplace, Helix has now transitioned to web2, excluding all blockchain and NFT elements.
Founded in 2019 by CEO Jack 'Maker' Kim, Hypersonic previously raised $4 million. Kim remarked, “It shouldn’t be that hard for the millions of people out there who want to mod or play modded games, but until Helix, there’s just never been a professional toolset or platform built by modders, for modding.”
"Our team, cumulatively, has built mods and modding frameworks with more than 100 million total downloads – all in their own free time. Imagine what they can do now that they’re actually being paid to do it!"
