David Alpert, CEO of Skybound, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at Gamescom Latam

David Alpert, CEO of Skybound Entertainment, has been revealed as the first keynote speaker for Gamescom Latam.

Known for his work as executive producer on The Walking Dead and Invincible, Alpert will join video games investor Jon Goldman on June 28 for a fireside chat. This discussion will occur during the inaugural Gamescom Latam.

In their session titled "Expansion of IP and games," the duo will delve into the current state of the gaming industry and the potential for video game IP to expand into other entertainment mediums and vice versa.

"Being the keynote speaker at Gamescom Latam is an honor," stated Alpert. "This event highlights gaming culture's vast global influence, consistently uniting varied communities to drive the future of gaming.

"We're at a pivotal point where expanding our IP across film, television, games, and immersive experiences is more than entertainment; it's about crafting interconnected worlds that deeply engage audiences through storytelling."

Gamescom Latam CEO Gustavo Steinberg commented, "David and Jon's participation signifies a crucial moment for Gamescom Latam as we investigate the confluence of storytelling and gaming.

"The cross-platform expansion of intellectual properties is not just a trend but a significant evolution in content engagement. David's extensive insight into this area will undoubtedly broaden our audience's perspective and inspire new creative ventures."

Gamescom Latam, announced earlier this year, builds on the foundations of Brazil's BIG Festival.

Scheduled from June 26 to 30 in São Paulo, Brazil, this new event is a collaboration between Gamescom organizer Koelnmesse, German trade association Game, BIG Festival, and Omelete Company.

Earlier this year, GamesIndustry.biz spoke with the organizers to learn more about their goals for the event.

GamesIndustry.biz is a media partner for Gamescom Latam and will attend with support from the organizers.
