Avalanche to shutter offices in Montreal and New York
Avalanche Studios Group has decided to close its facilities in Montreal and New York, leading to job losses for 50 staff members.
In a notification on its official site, the company indicated that these closures are "essential to secure a stable and sustainable future for the organization."
"We're concentrating on aiding [those impacted] during this difficult period," the communication added. "We appreciate the significant efforts of those departing and are dedicated to continuing to deliver outstanding gaming experiences to our community."
The Montreal branch, which was launched last October after acquiring Montreal-based Monster Closet Games, was relatively new.
The New York branch, established in 2011, experienced similar layoffs in 2015 at the same time as the Stockholm office following the release of Just Cause 3 and Mad Max.
