The PSVR 2 PC adapter is scheduled for release on August 7

This August, Sony will introduce a PC adapter for its PlayStation VR 2 headset.

Available from August 7, the adapter will allow PSVR 2 owners to access Steam’s vast collection of VR games, including popular titles such as Half-Life: Alyx and Fallout 4 VR.

According to Sony, the adapter can be purchased from the PlayStation store and select retailers at a cost of $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99.

To utilize the Steam VR library on a PSVR 2, users will also require a DisplayPort 1.4 compatible cable (sold separately), a Steam account, and a PC that meets the specified requirements outlined in Sony’s blog post.

Yasuo Takahashi, Sony’s principal product manager, noted, “PSVR 2 is primarily designed for the PS5. As a result, some features like HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and advanced haptic feedback (excluding basic rumble) aren't supported on PC.”

He continued, “We believe the optimal PSVR 2 experience is on the PS5, but we’re excited for players to expand their VR game options on PC with the same headset.”

Released on February 22, 2023, the PSVR 2 nearly reached 600,000 units sold in six weeks. However, the headset has not seen overwhelming success, leading to reports in March 2024 that Sony has paused its production to manage existing inventory.
