Behaviour plans to reduce its workforce by letting go up to 95 employees
Behaviour Interactive has revealed plans to reduce its workforce by up to 95 employees, including 70 from its Montreal office.
The company cited "structural changes" in a recent press release, stating that these steps are necessary to align with a "clarified vision," resulting in the layoffs.
Over the last five years, the studio's headcount has grown from 575 to 1,300, matching the remarkable expansion seen within the industry. Despite this, Behaviour noted that the industry's explosive demand has brought about greater competition. The firm now plans to return its focus to its "historical strengths," particularly in the horror genre.
The development of the game Dead by Daylight remains unaffected by the restructuring, as does Behaviour's service business.
Co-founder and CEO Rémi Racine expressed gratitude to those impacted by the layoffs. "While re-evaluating our structure and strategic goals has led to tough choices, we are confident these changes will help us maintain our success. Our dedication to delivering exceptional products and fostering a positive workplace culture remains unchanged," Racine stated.
Earlier this year, layoffs also occurred at Behaviour's Montreal office, cutting 3% of its global staff. Link to earlier layoffs report.
Additionally, in March, the company acquired Fly Studio, a multimedia production company, though the financial terms were not disclosed. Link to acquisition details.
